Since 1960, every February the Quinta Vergara amphitheatre hosts Latin America's most famous song festival.

The Viña del Mar International Song Festival is Latin America's most important music festival and one of the oldest in Spanish. It began on 21 February 1960 and has been held every February since (it was only suspended in 2021 and 2022 because of the pandemic).
Quinta Vergara
It takes place in the Quinta Vergara amphitheatre, which holds about 15,000 people, surrounded by the park's gardens and the Vergara Palace.
The Monster and the Seagulls
The festival audience is famous for being demanding and is known as "the Monster". Artists who win it over receive the silver or gold Gaviota (Seagull), the festival trophy, which also rewards the songs in the competitions.
Beyond the festival
February is high summer on the coast: the city is full of events, and it is a good time to enjoy the waterfront, the flower clock and Viña del Mar's parks.
Tips
- Tickets go on sale months in advance and sell out fast.
- Book your accommodation early: the city fills up that week.
