Fish, seafood and vegetables beside the Calle Calle river, with sea lions as its most famous neighbours.

In downtown Valdivia, on the Costanera Arturo Prat next to the Pedro de Valdivia bridge, the River Market is one of the city's most visited places and part of the heritage of the Los Ríos Region.
The market
Fish, seafood, vegetables and other fresh produce are sold here, much of it arriving by river. It is the place to see everyday life in Valdivia.
The sea lions
Its most famous neighbours are the sea lions (South American sea lion) that come up to the bank and have become one of the symbols of the waterfront.
From the river
Nearby, at the Schuster pier, boat trips show the city and its bridges from the water.
Tips
- Go early to see the market in full swing.
- Do not feed the sea lions or get too close: they are wild animals.
