Two neighbouring resorts with calm water, long beaches and the scallops of Tongoy bay.

South of La Serena and Coquimbo, the coast of the Coquimbo Region opens into calm bays. There lie Guanaqueros and Tongoy, two resorts a few kilometres apart that are easy to visit on the same day.
Tongoy
It has two beaches: Socos, about 4 km long, with calm water ideal for families, and Playa Grande, about 14 km long, popular for recreational fishing. Its cooking revolves around the scallops and oysters farmed in the bay.
Guanaqueros
One of the best-known resorts in the region, with about 7 km of coast, fishing coves and good seafood.
Tips
- They fill up in summer and on long weekends: arrive early.
- Try scallops "a la parmesana", a local classic.
