Old Chillán, one of the boundaries of the new City of Chillán, was the cradle of the liberator Bernardo O´Higgins, who was born in August 20, 1778. Nothing more, nothing less.
A few kilometers away from the Chillán Hots Springs, there is a tour for visitors of all ages that has come to be called the “Pangue Cave”. It would be a pity not to see it.
A hot spring venue with spa is part of this excellent mountain resort, a favorite in the country. Ski and adventure converge only 80 kilometers away from Chillán.
On the way to the hot springs, there lies the Pincheiras Cave. They were famous bandits who plundered the South of the country.
Snow and hot springs, Chillán has it all. A first class venue to visit in the winter and visit again in the summer.
On horseback, on foot or else on the chairlifts leading to the volcano, reaching the fumaroles is something visitors cannot miss.
There is a duet that captures most visits in Chillán: the market and the handicrafts street fair. Impossible to resist them.

Chillán, whose name means “sitting in the sun” or “the sun’s chair”, is one of the most modern cities in the country. Touring around it is a real pleasure.
