A Visit to Gran Hotel Termas de ChillánPablo Etchevers Jorge González
A hot spring venue with spa is part of this excellent mountain resort, a favorite in the country. Ski and adventure converge only 80 kilometers away from Chillán.
Before the creation of Gran Hotel Termas de Chillán, there were other significant hotels, such as the Pirigallo and the Shangai-lá, as well as other condos that accommodated thousands of visitors for years. Even if this has been a tourist destination for decades, the majestic presence of this building has become an attraction itself. Standing 1,600 meters above sea level, not only is it the base of operations for one of the most important ski resorts in Chile, but it also contains one of the most beautiful hot spring venues in the country.
Several therapeutic activities may be enjoyed in the facilities. The most outstanding include thermal water baths, water gym or hydrotherapy, as well as cosmetics, natural steam baths, mud baths, hydro-spa, reflexology, aromatherapy, sauna, shiatsu, reiki or the traditional massage made by real experts. Amenities and Other Delights At present, Gran Hotel Termas de Chillán has 120 rooms with cozy atmosphere for a very pleasant stay. However, it is the common spaces which stand out above all the rest. They include two restaurants that, in addition to having an excellent gastronomic offer, captivate visitors with a panoramic view of the forest and the mountains, very hard to imagine unless one is standing right there. Excellent salmon, beef and lamb dishes may be tasted by customers surrounded by quietness in its purest state.
The natural pools of thermal and volcanic water with healing properties are the great attraction at this beautiful hotel. The real possibility of having an outdoor bath opposite the majestic view of the mountains and the Chillán Volcano, even watching its ski trails, should be deeply considered. In addition to ski and the hot springs, in the hot summer months, this place becomes a real center of operations for adventurous activities such as fishing, horseback riding, ascents to the Chillán Volcano and its nearby mountains or the hike around the oxygenated forests and trails which, whether on a mountain bike or on foot, let us get deep into nature’s territory.
